NHGRI and ELSI had to negotiate with Dr. Nakamura in Japan who changed the protocol in Riken for informed consent for the samples in Japan. There are many e-mails with Jean McEwen, Francis Collins, and the NHGRI staff with talking points to settle disagreements with the professors in Japan.
