Scope and Contents

Documents regarding concerns about informed consent, community engagement and sample collection from the HapMap project. The second draft of the Data Flow Working Group that met via conference call on November 12 2002. This draft reflects the comments from the comments of working group and steering committee members. Documents also include a draft of a proposed council oversight group for HapMap community engagement and sample collection and correspondence between Jean McEwen and Dr. Nakamura the requirements for the sample collection in Japan. Additional documents include correspondence with Larry Thompson and NHGRI management deciding if they should announce the HapMap Project on October 1, 2002 along with documents from the NGHRI Special Emphasis Panel on the HapMap Project and a revised draft of the HapMap Project Press Statement.

This collection may contain materials with sensitive or confidential individual and patient information, as well as sensitive information about the grant funding process, that is protected under federal or state right to privacy laws and regulations. As such we are unable to make fully available publicly much of these materials. Those that have been made available have been carefully redacted so as to remove all personally identifiable information (PII).
