This collection contains the paper materials of Francis Collins, created and accumulated during his tenure as the Director of the NHGRI (formerly the NCHGR) from 1993 to 2008. Many of the files in this collection predate Dr. Collins tenure, including files from first NHGRI Director James Watson and early planning meetings for what would become the Human Genome Project in the mid to late 1980s.
