Collins talks about genetic diseases, how they run in families, look at identical twins, evidence of manic depression having a genetic basis; revolution in understanding genetic risks and diseases; consequences for discovering disease genes, short-term is availability of testing to predict risk, long-term lead to more effective therapies; manic depression common genetic disorder, maybe have a positive aspect to having the gene too; concern about losing health insurance if you're at risk for something, job discrimination, privacy issue, testing associated with good genetic counseling, testing only with consent, reliable testing; concern with genetic diagnostics and treatment for manic depression costing society something they don't want to lose
