Scope and Contents
Continuing education video for primary care doctors (ACCME Essentials). Discussion of the Human Genome Project and the potential genetic tests available in the future. Challenges of genetic tests (communication, ambiguous results, lack of treatment after positive result); educating patients about issues related to having tests; Benefits and risks of genetic testing; prenatal testing; key issues raised by 3 different genetic tests - succeptibility testing for breast and ovarian cancer, Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP), Cystic fibrosis.
